Kingdom Hearts 3 Release Date Announced

E3, the biggest event in the gaming industry, is in full swing this week and with Square Enix hosting its own showcase this year, it was expected that we’d finally get a release date for Kingdom Hearts 3. Well, we did, but the announcement came earlier than expected.

Rather than wait for Square’s E3 showcase on Monday, the release date for Kingdom Hearts 3 was announced at the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra World Tour. The news was then shared on social media afterward.

Kingdom Hearts 3 will officially release on January 29, 2019 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Check out the announcement.

It’s a short delay from the 2018 date we’ve been hearing, but it’s not too far off. Now that Kingdom Hearts 3 finally has a release date we can start looking forward to more gameplay and actual details, which will be shared during E3.

Square Enix is hosting its E3 2018 showcase on Monday, June 11, at 1:00 p.m. EST. There’s also a chance we could see more of the game during Sony’s E3 event – which doesn’t sound like the typical press conference – on Monday, June 11, at 9:00 p.m. EST.

The Kingdom Hearts franchise, first released in 2002, is a crossover action RPG owned by Disney and developed and published by Square Enix. The series features various Disney properties based in a fictional universe tailored to the game narrative.  The series focuses on a character named Sora and his journey and experiences with various Disney, Final FantasyThe World Ends with You, and Pixar characters. In Kingdom Hearts 3, Sora will search for the “Key to Return Hearts” while Sora’s friends, Riku and King Mickey, search for Keyblade wielders. The game will conclude the “Dark Seeker Saga”, but it will not be the final game in the series.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is due out on January 29, 2019, for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Start the countdown.
